Guidance for your Covid-Secure visit to Barber Streisand

If you have any coronavirus symptoms please cancel your booking and do not come to the shop. Symptoms are fever, loss of taste/smell, or a new, continuous cough.  Information on cancelling your booking is below.

  • Please wash your hair before you visit and come product-free
  • You are required to wear a face mask, please bring your own or buy one from the newsagents opposite
  • Please be on time, make your presence known at the door, and wait outside to be called in when your barber is available. There is no waiting in the shop but plenty of shelter around the shop if it rains
  • If  you’re on a bike, please secure it on the street. There is nowhere to park your bike in the shop.
  • Come alone, no friends, family, partners, kids or animals
  • Please bring minimal belongings, customer items will be stored in disposable bags
  • Please do not bring food or drink into the shop, dispose of items in the bin opposite
  • If you want to tip your barber cash is easier, they each have a covid-secure hands-free tip jar!

 

Once Inside…

On entering the shop you will be asked a few screening questions then directed to the hand sanitizer and asked to put any belongings in a bag. Disposable gowns are provided and all barbers will be wearing visors, masks and disposable aprons. Per government guidance all stations are partitioned with a transparent barrier, and stations and tools thoroughly sanitized between customers. 

Booking your post-isolation haircut

 Things have changed a bit with our processes and bookings to accommodate the new requirements. There’s a lot to impart but we’ve tried to keep it as brief as possible!

Appointment Availability and Walk-Ins

Please book your appointment online in advance if at all possible. We do have walk-in slots available however these are now ‘Wait-Outsides’ as we can no longer have customers waiting inside. If you come as a walk-in we will need to take your details and payment in advance, and you will be asked to wait outside until you are called in (we will be able to give you a specific time so you are free to wander).

Online Payments

To reduce the level of congestion at the till in the shop we are currently taking advance payments online for all bookings.

Cancellations

We will no longer have a ready supply of walk-ins available to fill up available slots, so to avoid being charged we kindly request that you cancel or reschedule no less than 3 hours before your booking. You can reschedule via your booking email, or cancel by responding to the reminder text sent the day before.

Student/Key Worker Discounts

We are still providing student and keyworker discounts Monday-Friday 2pm to 5pm, however these must be booked and prepaid, in person in the shop. Please bring valid ID.

Unavoidable Issues

Please note that we currently have no idea how test and trace requirements will impact the team, we will always do our very best to accommodate you but it may be unavoidable that we have to cancel or reschedule bookings at short notice, or change which barber you see.

Why we are making the change

As a result of all the new Covid-secure industry requirements we have streamlined most of our in-shop processes, taking on-line bookings/ advance payment only, thereby reducing customer contact in-shop and leaving extra time for the cleaning required between customers. 

You may have also noticed that we put our prices up over lockdown, partly due to ever increasing shop overheads, partly due to transitioning the team from self-employment to employment contracts over the past year (with all the additional costs this entails). The extra hit of coronavirus has meant we now have to accommodate the costs of PPE and extra cleaning materials too.

We have been struggling to find a way to accommodate loyalty cards within the new process, and after taking feedback from some of our most regular customers we have decided to drop the loyalty cards altogether and instead have a smaller price increase than we originally implemented in April.

The new way forward

Going forward we will no longer operate the loyalty card scheme but will instead charge £29 per cut (£38 hair and beard), rather than the £32 (£42 with beard) in place since July reopening. We remain committed to providing an affordable service, while ensuring staff are fairly paid and working in a safe and pleasant environment.

How to redeem your existing cards/points

We want to make it as simple as possible to redeem any existing cards/stamps you may have, but due to limitations on the booking and payment system these can only be redeemed against a future booking, made in person and prepaid in the shop.

We will honour any existing cards/ stamps as follows:

10% discount 1 stamp

20% discount 2 stamps

30% discount 3 stamps

40% discount 4 stamps 

up to a maximum of 50% for a full card per any one booking

The deadline for redeeming any discounts is 31st January 2021. You may redeem as many cards as you have in this time but only up to a maximum of 50% per booking.
